The course for the degree of Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) is a whole time/full time Regular course extending over a period of two academic years having four semesters. Students pursuing the said course shall be permitted to complete the programme within a maximum period of three years from the date of admission to the programme.
Candidates with at least 50% marks (45% for SC/ST candidates) either in the Bachelor's Degree (10+2+3 pattern) and/or Master’s Degree in Sciences/Social Sciences/Humanity, or Bachelor’s in Engineering or Technology with specialization in Science and Mathematics with 55% marks, or any other qualification equivalent thereto, are eligible for admission to the programme.
A person, as long as he/she is on the rolls of B.Ed course, shall not be eligible to attend any other course of instruction or appear in any other examination of the University.
Provided that a candidate who has been placed under reappear category in one course/paper of an examination, other than the qualifying examination, or was scheduled to appear in the examination (other than the qualifying examination) either as a regular or private candidate before the commencement of class work of B.Ed. course but could not do so on account of delay in the conduct of said examination, for reasons beyond his/her control, shall be eligible to appear in the examination, even though he/she has been duly admitted to the B.Ed. course.
Any person in employment or self-employment or engaged in a business or profession is not eligible for admission to the B.Ed. course in the Non-Government colleges. Such a person may, however, be considered for admission, provided:
English shall be the medium of instruction and examination in all papers except in Modern Indian Languages, where the medium of instruction and examination shall be the language concerned.
"Course" means B.Ed. Course.
"Bachelor Degree" means Bachelor’s Degree in the faculties of Arts, Science, Social Sciences or Commerce (under 10+2+3 pattern) of the University of Jammu or Bachelor’s Degree in the Faculty of Music & Fine Arts of the University of Jammu or a Degree of any other University recognized as equivalent thereto or Bachelor’s Degree of 4-year duration in the Faculty of Agriculture of a recognized University or any such faculty which is included or would likely to be included in the University Act.
"Qualifying Examination" means a Degree Examination (on the basis of which a candidate becomes eligible for admission to the B.Ed. course) in the Faculties of Arts, Science, Social Sciences, Commerce or Faculty of Music and Fine Arts of the University of Jammu or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto or Bachelor’s degree of 4-year duration in the Faculty of Agriculture and other Faculties approved by the University of Jammu.
"Merit" means percentage of marks obtained by the candidate in the qualifying examination.
"Open Merit Category" means consideration under Non-Reserved Category on the basis of inter-se merit.
"University" means the University of Jammu.
"Incomplete Form" means the Application Form which is wrongly filled in, gives incomplete/wrong/false information, not attested by the prescribed authority, not accompanied by the requisite fee/late fee in full (if applicable) or is deficient in respect of one or more requisite certificate(s)/document(s).
"College" means a College of Education affiliated to the University of Jammu for imparting instructions in B.Ed. Course.
"Authority to attest the Application Form and Photograph" is either the Principal of the Institution from where the candidate has passed the qualifying examination or where he is studying at present or a gazetted officer or as per the University guidelines issued from time to time.
"Candidate" means the person seeking admission to the B.Ed. course.
No Non-Government College of Education shall make admission of the candidates to the B.Ed. course on its own except M.C. Khalsa College of Education which can admit minority quota candidates against 50% of its sanctioned intake. The admission to the B.Ed. regular course shall be made EXCLUSIVELY through on-line process.
Before submitting the on-line Application Form, candidates are advised to read the statutes carefully to ensure that they fulfill all the eligibility conditions laid down for admission to B.Ed. course. In case, it is detected at any subsequent stage that a candidate does not fulfill the eligibility criteria and/or has furnished incorrect information, concealed/suppressed material facts, his/her candidature will be cancelled, even if already admitted. The University will, in no way, be responsible for the consequences emanating therefrom.
A candidate if wrongly admitted by the admission committee/college, his/her admission shall be liable to be cancelled at any stage of his/her study or even if result has been declared or degree has been awarded, the candidate will have no right to claim that his/her admission in the course be continued or degree awarded to him/her be not cancelled on any ground whatsoever.
All candidates (both Local as well as Non-Local) desirous of seeking admission to the B.Ed. course in the Non-Government Colleges of Education, shall submit on-line Application Form complete in all respects on one of the following websites:
A candidate shall not be allowed to make any change in his/her on-line Application Form, by way of addition, deletion or alteration, once it has been finally submitted on the website.
Incomplete on-line application form(s) is/are liable to be outrightly rejected and the University shall not enter into any correspondence in this regard.
The candidate, after submitting his/her online application form, shall take out a print to verify his/her photograph, signature and thumb impression and shall produce the hard copy of the form to the college/University Authorities, if so demanded by the college/University authorities.
Along with the hard copy of the online application form, the following certificates/documents (in triplicate), signed by the candidate and attested by the authority mentioned at Clause 4.9, shall be deposited in the college concerned at the time of admission:
A candidate seeking relaxation of marks under SC/ST category must submit, along with the Application Form, an AFFIDAVIT as per specimen given at Annexure-I duly attested by a First Class Magistrate or a Notary Public, to the effect that category certificate and other certificates/documents (attested copies of which are to be produced in the allotted college) are genuine. In the event of their being proved otherwise, his/her admission shall be cancelled besides any other action that may be taken against him/her under law for his/her civil or criminal liability.
In case the candidate is in employment or is self-employed or is engaged in business or profession, he/she shall also furnish the requisite certificate or undertaking, as the case may be, with the Application Form in accordance with clause 2.3 (ii).
Every college shall have an Admission Committee for scrutiny and verification of documents of candidates [to be deposited after allotment of college through online counselling]. The committee shall consist of:
The college shall obtain the approval of constitution of its Admission Committee from the Director, College Development Council, well in advance.
(a) 75% of the sanctioned seats available in each Non-Government College of Education/ Bhaderwah Campus, University of Jammu shall be filled from amongst eligible candidates who are:
(b) Remaining 25% seats in each college of education shall be filled from amongst the eligible candidates who neither belong to the territorial jurisdiction of the University of Jammu nor have passed the qualifying examination from the University of Jammu.
(c) It is mandatory for all candidates to apply and fill preference online (CUET & Non-CUET) candidates.
